EU4PFM and Ministry of Economy discussed next steps in Public Procurement Reform
EU4PFM Procurement Component experts recently met with Valerii Shergin, Head of the Public Procurement Department of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
As Ukraine moves closer to EU integration, aligning procurement standards is a top priority. Thus, during the meeting participants discussed:
- next steps on legal reform, including the implementation of EU legislation in the field of utilities and defence procurement
- modalities for developing the public procurement strategy for the next planning period
- further capacity-building measures
- approaches to cooperation with international partners in support of EU accession-related reforms.
“The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine is the main public procurement policymaking and implementing body. Therefore, we welcome the increasing role of the Ministry in coordinating the next procurement reform steps and their implementation, as well as leading liaison with international partners,” noted Eriks Mezalis, Team Leader of the EU4PFM Procurement Component.
