Internal control pilot in progress: EU4PFM will facilitate further risk management sessions
EU4PFM continues advancing the pilot on internal control with the Coordination Centre for Free Legal Aid of the Ministry of Justice – the initiative aimed at strengthening risk management practices in public institutions.
EU4PFM International Expert on PIFC Manfred van Kesteren met with representatives of the Coordination Centre, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Justice. The partners discussed the results of a recent workshop dedicated to the COSO Internal Control Framework and focused on ways to translate the gained knowledge into the daily practice of the Coordination Centre.
In an open dialogue, participants shared their views on effective risk management implementation and on how to scale the outcomes of the pilot across the Ministry of Justice and the wider public sector. The discussion also touched on ways to improve the alignment between policy goals and strategic and operational objectives, and on how this alignment connects to risk management and budgetary processes. During the meeting, Mr van Kesteren presented international best practices in risk analysis and risk response.
Another milestone achieved during the meeting was the agreement to provide further EU4PFM support for conducting risk management sessions at different managerial levels.
The first phase of the pilot will conclude with a report that provides concrete recommendations and a roadmap for the pilot institutions. This document will lay the groundwork for the second phase, which will focus on supporting the practical implementation of those recommendations.
