EU4PFM Component 5 strengthens internal mentoring capacity at the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine
On 15 January, the EU4PFM Programme, through its Component 5 on External Audit and Parliamentary Control, delivered a practical training for HR staff of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine who serve as internal trainers and play a key role in the mentoring and adaptation of new employees.
The training focused on strengthening the institution’s internal mentoring system by providing HR professionals with the knowledge and hands-on tools needed to further train mentors and managers across the organisation. Particular attention was paid to clearly defining the respective roles of mentors, managers, and HR trainers in supporting professional development and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new staff.
The training placed strong emphasis on adult learning principles and their application in mentoring and internal training, helping participants better understand how adults learn and how this knowledge can be translated into effective mentoring practices. Through interactive exercises and discussion, HR staff also developed practical facilitation and communication skills, learned how to provide constructive feedback, and explored ways to address typical challenges that arise during mentoring and adaptation processes.
Built around real-life situations from the ACU’s daily work, the training encouraged active participation and reflection, while showcasing training methods that HR staff can later replicate when working with mentors and managers.
By investing in the capacity of internal trainers, EU4PFM supports the development of sustainable, institution-owned mentoring systems and contributes to the long-term professionalisation of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine in line with EU best practices.
