Keeping Ukraine’s customs running, even when the power goes out

Behind every customs declaration, every shipment crossing the border and every customs procedure are IT systems that need reliable electricity to keep working.

With russia’s continued missile and drone attacks causing serious damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, power outages have become another challenge for customs officers across the country. Yet even during prolonged blackouts, customs operations must continue, goods need to cross borders and businesses depend on services remaining available.

To help the State Customs Service of Ukraine (SCS) meet these challenges, EU4PFM has delivered 53 portable power stations to strengthen the energy resilience of customs authorities across Ukraine.

The equipment will help keep essential IT infrastructure running during electricity outages, including servers, network equipment, data storage and secure communication systems.

The new power systems can automatically switch to backup electricity when the main supply fails. This will help reduce disruptions to customs operations and ensure that digital services remain available when they are needed most.

Despite the challenges of war, Ukraine’s customs authorities continue their important work every day. EU4PFM is pleased to support them with practical solutions that make a difference.
