Strengthening the role of middle managers through practical learning
On 13–14 July, middle managers of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine participated in the training “Middle Management as an Integrator of Managerial Interaction”, delivered with the support of EU4PFM Component 5.
The training focused on the unique role of middle managers as the crucial link between strategic leadership and day-to-day implementation. Through practical exercises and discussions, participants strengthened their ability to build shared understanding of management decisions, communicate them effectively to their teams, navigate communication challenges, provide structured feedback, and foster trust through consistent managerial behaviour.
The programme focused on four key areas:
the role of the middle manager in achieving shared results;
receiving decisions and building shared understanding;
conveying and implementing decisions in practice;
building trust through consistent managerial integration.
A key message throughout the training was that being in the middle of the management system means much more than simply passing information between different levels. It means helping people understand the purpose behind decisions, translating them into clear actions, and creating the conditions for successful implementation.
Strong institutions rely not only on sound procedures but also on leaders who can turn strategy into action. Through this training, middle managers reinforced the skills needed to guide teams with clarity, consistency, and trust—helping to strengthen collaboration and managerial effectiveness across the Accounting Chamber.
