Launch of piloting in selected key spending units is the main focus of EU4PFM in the PIFC area

EU4PFM actively supports Ukraine in strengthening internal control and internal audit systems.

As part of this effort, EU4PFM International Expert on PIFC, Manfred van Kesteren, met in Kyiv with Igor Bugrak, Head of the PIFC Harmonisation Department at the Ministry of Finance, and his team to discuss priorities and further joint activities in 2025.

A key topic of discussion was the launch of pilot initiatives in selected key spending units to improve the practical implementation of internal control and internal audit. Meeting participants exchanged their ideas and agreed on further steps in this regard. The meeting also focused on aligning Ukraine’s national internal audit standards with the newly updated Global Internal Audit Standards to ensure compatibility with international best practices.

Another important area of cooperation is to assist the Ministry of Finance in aligning Ukrainian legislation with the EU acquis in the PIFC domain. Participants also discussed screening and negotiation-related activities that will reinforce Ukraine’s path towards European integration. The meeting concluded with a shared vision and agreement on the next steps to drive these reforms forward.
