The State Customs Service received the equipment necessary for the start of the “customs visa-free” operation
EU4PFM continues to help Ukrainian customs to integrate into the EU customs system.
This time, the project provided Ukrainian customs with more than 200 modern barcode scanners for reading data from customs declarations. The scanners are already on their way to customs checkpoints, where they will be integrated into the customs IT system.Following the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure, to which Ukraine soon becomes a party, customs declarations must contain a barcode to quickly find the declaration in the system. In fact, customs officials only need to scan the barcode on the declaration with a reader, which significantly speeds up all procedures.
“Equipping Ukrainian customs with modern barcode readers is an important step towards the earliest possible implementation in Ukraine of all European integration measures aimed at minimizing time and effort when crossing the border. This process takes a few minutes,” commented Vytenis Alisauskas, EU4PFM Key International Expert on customs.
