Expert: knowledge of European legislation in the field of customs infrastructure will be needed by Ukrainian customs officials both today and after Ukraine becomes a member of the EU
On February 14-16, 2023, with the support of EU4PFM, an online seminar was held on EU regulations in the field of implementation of customs warehouses, temporary storage, free zones and duty-free shops, in which representatives of the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine took part.
The speaker at the 3-day seminar was Mr. Laimis Žlabys, Head of the customs control organization department of the Lithuanian Customs, EU4PFM customs expert. He offered the participants an overview of the EU customs legislation, which establishes provisions on customs warehouse (CW) and temporary storage (TS), as well as requirements for the territory (building), equipment, accounting system, access routes and customs control.
During the seminar, he focused in detail on the interaction of customs and other authorities within the framework of the official control of goods imported into the customs territory, as well as on the aspects of interaction during the official control of goods imported by business entities that have received the appropriate authorization for simplification.
“I am convinced that my colleagues will need this knowledge both today and, in the future, when Ukraine becomes a member of the EU,” the expert noted.
